Story So Far
2022 was the return of The Bhangra Showdown, after a year of no Showdown due to Covid-19 the event was postponed and didn’t go ahead in 2021. A year that only had 6 teams competing but it was a year to remember. The top 6 teams went head to head to take the first-place crown. Here are the final rankings:

The show was in the heart of London, Troxy Theatre. Hosted by Tommy Sandhu
A year filled with some of the best performances, with new creative concepts and ideas. It was a year that showed us how far bhangra has come. From great performances to a great showcase of team introductions, representing and shwoing what TBS is all about

2019 was a big year for TBS, with breathtaking performances, and halftime shows that were memorable. Revolutionising the bhangra scene and showcasing the art of bhangra with a modern feel but sticking to the roots.

This year saw TBS with it’s biggest change yet – a move to Birmingham! The production was again innovative with large LED screens lining the back wall and the teams coming out of a traditional Tata truck. 9 teams battled it out to provide an amazing show. Here are the final rankings:

This year saw TBS celebrate its 10 year anniversary at the iconic Hammersmith Apollo. The production quality yet again stepped up a notch with large horizontal LED screens and a breathtaking intro representing the history of the biggest Bhangra competition in the world. The 8 university teams put on remarkable performances to mark the 10th anniversary of the show. The final rankings are as follows:

The show featured huge performances from Sharry Mann, Heera Group and Ashok Gill, hosted by Suzi Maan.
This year saw TBS with it’s biggest change yet – a move to Birmingham! The production was again innovative with large LED screens lining the back wall and the teams coming out of a traditional Tata truck. 9 teams battled it out to provide an amazing show. Here are the final rankings:

The show featured huge performances from Desi Crew, Resham Annol, Mankirt Aulakh, Dilpreet Dhillon and Ammy Virk, hosted by Tommy Sandhu
This year TBS stepped up a notch! 2015 saw another massive step up in the production of the show, teaming up with Kudos AV. LED panels and bespoke content provided the perfect backdrop for those powerful and epic bhangra moves in front. 8 teams battled it out and here’s the final rankings:

The show featured for the first time ever a full live band and a unforgettable experience with the President of Bhangra himself, Jazzy B!
This year saw a massive step up in the production of the show. Vertical LED panels provided the perfect backdrop for those enigmatic bhangra moves in front. 8 teams battled it out and here’s the final rankings:

The show featured an astonishing performance by winners of Britain’s Got Talen 2010 Spelbound, and a performance by Jaz Dhami. The show was hosted by BBC Asian Network RJ’s Sunny and Shay.
Having been running for 5 years on the trot, the 6th year lived up to its predecessors! 8 teams fought on the biggest stage in UK Bhangra. Here’s how it went down:

The show saw YouTube sensation JusReign along with Babbu and Rupan Bal host the show. A live performance by UK’s leading vocalist, JK, provided the perfect end to the evening.
The show returned to its proud home venue of Hammersmith Apollo. 9 teams battled it out for the UK’s most prestigious title of ‘The Best University Bhangra Team’. Here’s the rankings:

The night featured live performances from 2 of the biggest Bhangra sensations around, Saini Surinder, alongside Gupsy Aujla on the dhol, and Nirmal Sidhu.
Bringing the show to its biggest and most prestigious venue yet, at HMV Hammersmith Apollo, 10 teams battled it out for the ultimate prize.
A sell out 3300+ seated crowed saw the teams raise the bar on the standard of Bhangra even further. The top 3 couldn’t have ranked much closer in terms of points, and here’s how they ranked:

The fourth instalment of The Bhangra Showdown had plenty of surprises with an electrifying opening from Paragon Dhol Academy, surprise performances from Foji Gill and Shin DCS as well as a live P.A. from Angrej Ali.
Yet another sell-out crowd attended the most highly contested competition to date at the world renowned London Palladium. King’s College returned in a bid to reclaim their 2007 title. There were only a few points separating the top 3 places, and here’s how the top 3 ranked:

Guest performances from included the Bhangra Legend Sukshinder Shinda with a surprise appearance from the Grewals, stars of the hit Channel 4 show: The Family.
The second launch of The Bhangra Showdown was met with unprecedented support with a second successive sell out at Sadler’s Wells.
With a mere few points separating first and second place, here’s how the top 3 ranked:

Guest performances included Lehmber Hussainpuri and H-Dhami alongside lively host Kulvinder Ghir.
In its inaugural show held in 2007, The Bhangra Showdown attracted supporters in huge numbers at the Indig02. Here’s how the top 3 ranked:

The show was hosted by Goodness Gracious Me’s Kulvinder Ghir and displayed internationally renowned record-label Bhangra artists Malkit Singh and Juggy D. As anticipated it was met with unparalleled support for its cause in aiding charities and increasing cultural awareness across the UK.
